Overview

The program centers around a month long road-trip, that is designed to make the Fellows question themselves and their existing beliefs. The program can be divided into three phases

  1. Pre road trip
  2. Road trip
  3. Post road trip

Prior to the road trip, fellows

go through a month long orientation process where they embark on a steep learning curve to learn about various facets of the social sector and the tools required to be a change agent. It is designed to help the Fellows make the best out of their road-trip in terms of learning and  equips them with adequate tools and knowledge.

The orientation process will begin after the Fellows have been selected through the application process and continues until the beginning of the road-trip. The orientation program is mainly non-residential and information is provided to the Fellows over internet and phone.

As a culmination of the pre-trip orientation, a 2-day residential event called Day Zero will be held just before the road-trip. This will serve as a platform for all selected Fellows to meet and interact with each other and with other Grassroutes alumni and distinguished change-makers.

This process is meant to enable Fellows to have a structured perspective of the program, the road-trip and its objectives.

During the road-trip, fellows are expected to

  • Travel extensively in and around the mapped organization
  • Strike conversations with community and change makers
  • Be an activist by working on projects allotted
  • Collect interesting and inspirational stories

After the road-trip, fellows will

  • Use social media to bring to fore the stories and experiences from their trip
  • Engage larger community in a dialog around social issues from your experience through talks and conversations
