Road Trip Diaries - Day7

We got back to Vizag the previous day and had a talk with Susheela ma’am about what could     be done at the school. We were picked up at 8:30 in the morning and we were ready with the equipment by then. This time at school, a lot more kids were present than before and their classes have just started. Curious Varsha wanted to enter the class that very moment but we thought its better take some permission as it would be disturbing the class. We were happily invited to be a part of the class and our moments of getting utterly surprised started then. The geography class was going with the kids studying the location of the continents on the globe… they are not bound to be sitting in a fixed place as in a conventional Indian classroom… interesting. The next visit was to a math class where the kids were playing with random number differences and all. It was during the break when we went up to speak to the teachers, a kid came to us asking us to come to their class in some time. It was Anna’s class… what a beautiful teacher was she. Despite having a language barrier, the way she handled the English class was way too amazing… hats off to this twenty year old dedicated young German. She has built up quite a good rapport with the students in the past few months, she was at the school. They were outspoken in many regards and the way she corrected a student when he made a mistake with a reasoning and explanation just made it one of the most memorable learning experiences during the road trip. But, we could not expect at that point of time, better experiences were held in store for us. We then talked to some very prominent people of Samata, who have been with the organization for long (some even since inception). Rajulamma was one of them and the other was Mr. Sitarama raju. Rajulamma was also called as the woman tiger of Samata or ‘Aadapuli’ as they call it in the local language telugu. The way she explained those brave stories of dressing up as a man, trying to drive away those illegal miners in the Borra Region we visited a couple of days ago were as interesting as the fiction stories I’ve heard about… and it was more impressive for it was by the first person.

We returned from the school in the afternoon and Susheela ma’am told us that we had an   appointment with Mr. Ravi… high probability for something important to be decided or discussed. We got a chance to meet him in the evening in his office and explained him the work we have done… the blogs, the photo essays as well as the pictures of the entire trip. He asked us to join him for dinner at his house and we were more than happy to get the invitation. We then talked to the auditor of the organization Mr. Sudarshan about the general types of audits and the way they are conducted in a random gyan inflow process.

We met Mr. Ravi at his house and the discussion we had was regarded the best my both my team mates, though I was troubled by the long session owing to my stomach upset. Look this space for links to those amazing answers… seriously mann… very very mature and young. Interesting questions by my interested team mates took it to over Eleven, when we were served food. I had something lite, but the food was good. Tried some never before combinations like mango with curd rice and more. We then left the place after a satisfied dinner as well as a satisfying talk.
