The fabulous Fabulinus team consists of Abhishek(Ana), Abhisikta(Abhi), Akhil, Nakul(nacool), Namita and Uday Kiran(Udki). Its been pretty awesome so far working on our video. We learnt a lot about women’s education and about video making.

Amazingly some of the team members have never met each other! Its our common friendship that ties us all together.

I’m very excited about going to the villages of Pochampally and see where the exquisite designs of the sarees my mother loves are made. Textile has been one of the oldest industries of India and its easy to ignore the plight of the weavers in the face on growing machinzation. But nothing like the art originating from the hands of an experienced weaver. I hope to be able to understand the problems of the weavers and create more awareness among people regarding their issues.

The NGO we are assigned to called Akshara works with weavers in Pochampally and promotes their art and culture. I met the co-founder Muralidhar in Mumbai this summer at Srijan-2008. He’s impressive with his knowledge of the region and passion for his work. I hope we can get a good interview with him and upload it for all of you to see.
